Established on August 11, Juche 37(1948) and honoured with the Order of Kim Il Sung, the Korea National Art Museum is located in downtown Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
   It is a cultural institution whose mission is to collect and keep all the valuable heritage of the Korean fine art and widely spread propaganda for the proud successes of the Juche fine art to the masses holding fast to the Juche-oriented thought on artistic development, the protective policy of cultural heritage and the immortal leading feats of the WPK as its lifeline.
   Its total floor space covers 11 000㎡.
   It has tens of thousands of excellent fine arts works including Korean paintings, oil paintings, graphic paintings, sculptures, embroideries and ceramics on display in scores of rooms.
   They include the works that represent every stage of the revolution and construction, as well as time-honoured art heritage created from the 4th century to the early 20th century.
   The museum has hosted many large-scale art exhibitions and events including the State Art Exhibition and conducts brisk art exchanges with many countries in Asia, Europe and other parts of the world.
